Our collection emphasizes the cultural heritage of Afghanistan and the South Central Asian areas surrounding Afghanistan. We have several very fine examples of antique rugs, some very large and executed in silk in place of wool. These are a delight to touch and to own one and be able to look at it anytime you please would be a wonderful experience. Many of them exemplify the Afghan-Persian court styles (hunting carpets, floral/garden carpets) while others are typical of geometric styles created by the nomadic people of this area.
Most of our antique rugs and kilims date back to the 1920s or so, and some slightly older.
Some of our finer spice boxes are over 100 years old and most not much later than that. New spice boxes in our stock recreate the typical designs and patterns at a very reasonable price. The same is true of our wooden furniture and architectural elements (windows, doors, lintels and the like).
The old Turkman jewelry and adornments we have are large and elaborate works of art that we have been lucky enough to find. The workmanship is superb and very illustrative of the style. Since there has been a high demand for these for many years now, they are very hard to come by at this time.
We acquire such antiques whenever the occasion arises, but we never know what will be available.
